Responsibilities
VMware Inc., a pioneer in virtualization software for industry-standard computers, is seeking a senior software engineer with strong system architecture, including processors, storage and networking. The candidate will have a strong understanding of user space and kernel modules. The candidate will participate in the design of our systems and server management module which will be a part of the next generation of ESX.ESX server is a robust, production-proved virtualization layer than abstracts processor, memory, storage and networking resources into multiple virtual machines. ESX Server delivers the highest levels of performance, scalability and flexibility required for enterprise IT environments.
Your projects could include:
• Design and develop systems and server management applications in user space and kernel
• Backend server side application development of APIs
• Work with QA engineers and ensure software testability, quality and stability
• Work with documentation team and ensure quality documentation of the product and API
• Opportunities to work with the best and brightest in the industryRequirements
• Courses toward a Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Strong system level understanding of user space and kernel
• Understanding of System architecture, including processors, storage and networking
• Understanding of client-server or distributed, multithreaded applications in C++
• Understanding of object-oriented design methodology and techniques
• Hardware understanding desirable
