Best Jobs in America?

Money magazine recently compiled their Best Jobs in America list called, Young and Restless Top 20. As they say, “You’ve been in the job long enough to know what you want: more pay, more upside and more control over where you’re going.”

Lucky for you, Engineering came in as #6 most popular which would make it indeed, one of the best jobs in the good ol U.S.A. If you’re new to the field, you need to know the salarys are solid. Median pay is $53,600 yet most make $43,500 with bonuses; top earners can command $65,700 and up. In the end, you could make substantially more in stock options should you pick the right company. Millions perhaps? Hmmmm.

Here is their job description for this field.

Responsible for design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems. Performs engineering design evaluations. May develop a range of products. Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

As with most corporate positions, a bachelor’s degree is required and some experience in the field.

So what’s next? Sending your resume to Google? Apple? Sun Microsystems? These large Fortune 500 companies all need people like yourself. The possibilities are endless.
